More from the Party of Corruption

The Democrats had some nerve calling the Republicans the Party of Corruption.  To see real corruption, you don;t have to look too far in Illinois.  it is all over the place.  Where I live it is just a joke, and the corruption so bad, even Chicago makes fun of us.   But this starts at the top of the food chain in Illinois.  Our beloved leader, Blogojovich.  He is the most corrupt governor that the Democratic Republic of Illinois has ever had.  I could have this whole blog dedicated to Blago and still not have time to do anything else.  But here is a story from the Chicago Sun Times via We are Illinois that will shed some light on Blago.

Is gov’s office telling firm to defy subpoena? -

Four months after receiving a subpoena for the results, an
accounting firm hired by the Blagojevich administration refuses to turn
over its audit of a company with ties to Gov. Blagojevich — and court
documents reveal the administration is controlling the firm’s legal
strategy.

In January, Blagojevich requested an audit of the state’s dealings
with K.K. Bio-Science, whose owner, Anita Mahajan, was later charged
with defrauding the state. Prosecutors say the audit could be used to
bring additional charges against Mahajan and get millions back for
Illinois.

But accounting firm Crowe Chizek still has not turned over the
complete results, according to court documents and sources involved in
the investigation.

“Crowe will comply with any agreement reached between your office
and the Office of the Governor,” the accounting firm’s lawyer, John
Barber, wrote to Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Chmelar on Oct. 2.

Lawyers for Blagojevich and Crowe Chizek are due in court today to discuss the subpoena with Judge James Obbish.

Barber’s letter and one from Chmelar — as well as a legal memo
filed by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office — reveal haggling
over the June 29 subpoena.

The memo asserts an audit of K.K. Bio-Science’s contract with the
Department of Children and Family Services has been complete since
June. On Oct. 2, a lawyer for Crowe Chizek called Chmelar and said
Blagojevich counsel Bill Quinlan Jr. “would handle compliance with the
subpoena.”

Audit may reveal total theft

And on “multiple occasions,” the memo states, “a representative from
the Office of the Governor” contacted prosecutor Patricia Woulfe and
said “he would direct Crowe to deliver the documents.”

But sources close to the investigation say that not all documents
have been turned over. The subpoena ordered the firm to produce
everything.

In March, prosecutors alleged Mahajan bilked DCFS of at least $2.1
million through overbilling. K.K. Bio-Science, which had worked for
DCFS before Blagojevich was governor, performed urine tests on parents
in custody cases.

Mahajan’s husband donated money to Blagojevich. And Patti
Blagojevich earned $113,000 in real estate commissions on deals
involving the Mahajans.

Though prosecutors calculated Mahajan stole $2.1 million, they only
have evidence she took about $430,000. The audit purportedly proves she
took more over a longer period, according to the memo.

Crowe Chizek’s lawyers and spokeswomen did not respond to requests
for comment. Blagojevich spokeswoman Abby Ottenhoff said the firm
complied with the subpoena and that prosecutors are “satisfied.”

Prosecutors declined to comment, citing grand jury secrecy.

Mahajan has pleaded not guilty. She faces 30 years in prison if convicted.
