Rewriting American History and How To Fix the
Education System

We continue to dumb down our students by Rewriting American History to be
politically correct. It is time we stopped this practice and started teaching
what really happened and why we became know as the melting pot. Today we are
separate pots. The following quote is from the Bradley Report, “E Pluribus Unum” (”from many,
one”)
.

“America is unique among nations in being founded not on
a common ethnicity, but on a set of ideas. A nation based on ethnicity
perpetuates itself by the fact of birth. But a nation founded on an idea starts
anew with each generation and with each new group of immigrants. Knowing what
America stands for is not a genetic inheritance.
It must be learned, both by the next generation and by those who come to this
country. In this way, a nation founded on an idea is inherently fragile. And a
nation that celebrates the many ways we are different from one another must
remind itself constantly of what we all share.”

Here are some scary
statistics vis a vis historical literacy: the majority of eighth-graders cannot
explain the purpose behind the Declaration of Independence, and a mere five
percent of high
school
seniors

can explain how Congress and the Supreme Court check presidential power.
———————————–
According to James Ceaser,
professor of politics at the University
of
Virginia

and a participant in the project, the country’s understanding and appreciation
of diversity is important but should be balanced by emphasizing what we share.
“In selecting the title ‘E Pluribus Unum,’ the Project embraces the conviction
that plurality and unity are not necessarily in tension with one another, but
are supporting ideas of the same national experiment. Plurality is only made
safe when it is grounded in a deeper commitment to national unity. Unity is the
precondition for healthy diversity.”

Besides putting an exaggerated emphasis on the
differences among us, the Bradley Report also concludes that American history is
taught in a way that highlights what’s wrong with America over what is right.
Another of its recommendations: “Schools should not slight their civic mission
by giving students the impression that America’s failures are more noteworthy
than America’s achievements. They should begin with the study of America’s great
ideals, heroes, and achievements, so that its struggles can be put in
perspective. A broad-minded, balanced approach to the American story best
prepares young people for informed democratic participation.”

Our public government schools
are destroying the education of our children. They are no longer teaching
reading
,
writing and arithmetic. Instead they are teaching a worldview that is not
supported by most Americans and is the reason our students are not up to
international standards.

The teachers unions have taken power and have full
support from the Democratic Party and much of the Republican Party. This power
allows them to mandate what is taught and how it is taught along with their pals
in the Education
Colleges
.
This downward spiral of American Education will
not change until we change the system
from a government monopoly to a system that puts the parents back in control.

The solution is to fund the child and not
the bureaucracy. This simple
plan

that would allow all children equal access to a good education and can easily be done
with the following steps:

  • Designate an equal amount of money for each school-aged
    child
  • The parents then choose which school their child will
    attend

    • Public - in or out of current district boundary
    • Private
    • Charter
  • Remove all current mandates
  • Require all financial
    data

to be on the internet for all public/charter schools
  • Require yearly testing of all students - all schools
(These tests should be created by an independent authority and not the current
    State or Education Bureaucracy)
  • Require raw and aggregate testing results to be on the
internet in a timely manner, i.e. in time for school selection for the upcoming
    school year - all schools
  • Abolish NCLB, it will no longer be needed
  • Abolish the Dept. of Education, it also will no longer
    be needed
