The Disappointing Chicago Bears, and the b.s. is flowing

I know it has been awhile since I posted a blog, but to be completely honest with
you, I have been just too pissed off to write anything about the Chicago Bears lately. As you all know by now, the Bears were eliminated from the playoffs with a 24-31 loss to the Houston Texans on December 28th. It was the opinion of many that, it was a game the Bears should have won, but due to poor play from the defense and special teams, a 10-0 lead turned into a painful, going to the golf course early type of  defeat. Whether it was the poor defensive play, poor play calling from both sides of the ball, or the Manning fumble on the kick off return, almost every bad scenario from the entire season played out. Yes the Vikings beat the Giants to win the division, but Tampa Bay lost to the Raiders, and the Cowboys lost to the Eagles making the possibility of making a playoff appearance a reality with a Bears win. However, as what has been typical of this season showed, the Bearscouldn’t uphold their end of the bargain. They couldn’t finish the job.

The Chicago/Houston game however was a reflection on the entire
Bears’ season. Why should it be any different? It totally resembled,
what some might describe as a heart breaking losses against teams of
the likes of  Tampa Bay, Atalanta, and Carolina. Just like those games,
the Houston game showed the same kind of mental mistakes, a lack of
focus, poor play calling and strategy, and a lack of trying to win the
game. Instead, the Bears played not to lose. Nothing will change for
the Bears until they adjust their philosophy. Play to win rather than
not to lose. This is a reflection of the head coach, Lovie Smith, and
their General Manager Jerry Angelo. The team shows no sense of urgency
and mainly looks like their head coach, scared. Like a deer caught in
the headlights. Jerry Angelo shows the same kind of approach with his
draft picks. Lets trade are pick and move down, getting several middle
round draft picks so the pressure is off, type of approach. Give me a
break. Just in a recent press, conference, Jerry Angelo said, “It’s all
about the Quarterback.” “Until we get the Quarterback position
solidified, nothing else matters.” Well in response to that Mr. Angelo,
I call b.s.. What he says is true, but not in the context he is trying
to imply. One, he never did crap to replace the loss of Bernard
Berrian, and Mousin Mohammad to free agency. Marty Booker, Brandon
Lloyd, and Devin Hester at a wide out is not the answer. No QB can
perform in the passing game without a receiver that can catch and run
patterns correctly, which is for the most part the complete opposite of
the kind of receivers the Bears actually have. Angelo and Lovie seem to
make it habit of reflecting the criticism from themselves and make
someone else cop the blame. Crap, even Lovie gets rid of the competent,
and leaves the incompetent so he can have a bunch of yes people on his
staff. For example, getting rid of Ron Rivera and his defensive line
coach when they helped them reach a Super Bowl. Ron Rivera is sure
proving himself now isn’t he Lovie. San Diego is sure better off with
having him as their Defensive Coordinator.

There is just so much to say in such little space, and time. I will be venting more
about the Bears in the future, but, nothing will change until Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo get a clue, stop acting like the huff paint, and smoke crack, and adjust. It was once said that ding the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, is the first sign of insanity. Well, by that definition, Lovie and Jerry is quite insane. I hope the insanity ends before the 09 season starts with mini camp. More to come and thanks for reading.
