Why Do The Big Three Automakers Deserve a Bailout? (Update1)
Ladies and Gentlemen this is my very first blog post here at the Grizzly Network. My name is David Hittle, and I’m the host of the Blog Talk Radio Show: The David Hittle @ www.blogtalkradio.com/waytwofast. This topic is part of a topic that I will be discuss during my next radio show Saturday December 5, 2008.
This is from my next radio show, I will be including this in my show, so if you hear my show you will hear me say this twice.
“I told everyone how I felt about this new bailout. The House right now, is talking with the Big 3 Auto Makers. Even my Liberal friends disagree with the so called “Auto Bailout”. These companies do employee millions of jobs, but these companies are doing what our Congress does every year, they’re spending a lot more than they’re making. Right now the most irresponsible people with money, our United States Congress, is telling the Big 3 Auto Makers, how to spend their money. Our United States Congress, are the ones that have hurt these industries. They put ridiculous restrictions on the Auto Makers – such as the C.A.F.E. standards, and the limitations on Diesel fuel vehicles. I reported on this very radio show on: September 20, 2008 my very first show here at blog talk radio, about a car that was sold in Europe. This car was the Ford Fiesta, of course sold by Ford Motor Company; it is the European version of the Ford Focus. When the new C.A.F.E. standards were passed, the Big 3 said that it cost them over $100 Billion Dollars. However this Ford Fiesta gets: 65 MPG. Now remember the new C.A.F.E. standards made sure that the average car had at least 35 MPG. This car gets 65 MPG, is diesel fueled and therefore cannot be sold in the United States of America.
So when we have a Congress that restricts what can be bought and sold in this country, this country is not doing its Capitalist duty to itself. Our Congress tells the Auto Industry what they can build what standards they have to have, they’re required to have seat-belts and air-bags, and they have to have certain other features, which of course add more and more money to the company. So when they build a car, it costs them a nice chunk of change, but not exactly the amount you are going to pay. This company also must be able to pay for past contracts they have made with former employees, or employees that no long work for the company. The Unions require that Ford gives their employees life-time pensions.
Again my idea is to let these companies bankrupt, let them reorganize and let them get out from under these contracts, life-time pensions that they currently hold. We must also make this Congress deregulate some of the tight regulations that they hold on the auto-makers. No wonder Foreign Auto-Makers are able to do so well, their Governments are not restricting what they can build, or what they do.”
I agree and I will stick to what I have wrote. We must not keep giving, more and more money to all these companies with their hands stuck out. Mike Huckabee told us all, if the Congress passed the bailout, every company would be on Capitol Hill with their hands held out, asking for their piece of the pie.
Let these companies bankrupt, and lets not bankrupt the American People.
