Uncle-By: Michael A. Minton

You know, after almost two years of this presidential campaign, I am finally going to say, “Uncle.” That’s right, I am giving up on trying to win this election for John McCain. I have tried and tried, along with just about every conservative political commentator I know of, to do all I can to put a Republican in the White House. Well, I have had enough.

I can no longer try to pull McCain across the finish line, to borrow a line from Rush. There is so much going on with Barack Hussein Obama, so many reasons to keep him out of the Oval office, that it should be a cake walk for any Republican candidate. Yet, our guy is still losing by double digits in many polls.

Now, I realize that many polls are probably tilted to the left, but not enough to make a ten-point difference. No, the reason McCain is losing this race is because he will not do what it takes to get elected.

He acts so much the part of a pacifist  that it’s almost hard to believe he was such a war hero. I take nothing from him for that, and I respect his service and the suffering he endured for our country. God bless him for that!

What I am talking about, however, is the fact that he refuses to fight for the office for which he is running. It is a shame that Sen. McCain has chosen that path in this election. Listen, B.O. has so many past (and current) shady acquaintances that that fact alone should make Obama ineligible for any thinking person. Yet, McCain refuses to attack on that front.

B.O. has come out and said that one of the first things he’ll do in office is overturn every law that interferes with a woman’s unfettered access to an abortion. Not only women, but young girls as well. That stance is an incredibly horrid position, yet McCain refuses to attack him on that front.

Obama has, on several occasions, refused to make it illegal to aid a baby when that baby survives the already terrible abortion process. He believes that if a doctor screws up an abortion and the baby lives through it, that the baby should be left to die and thrown out in the garbage with the dirty gowns and bed linens. Yet McCain won’t attack Obama on that front.

Obama wants to repeal the Defense Of  Marriage Act, and also do away with the military policy of  “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” And still McCain won’t attack on that front either.

B. Hussein Obama is against allowing the United States to drill for oil domestically while concurrently investing in new, clean fuel alternatives. Of course, by doing this, we would be less dependant on foreign energy sources. Yet McCain refuses to attack him on that front.
Barack considers it a burden to have children. McCain refuses to attack. Barack has called for immediate withdrawal of American troops in Iraq, still nothing from McCain.

There have been questions about the legitimacy of Hussein’s birth certificate which could make it unconstitutional for him to be president. Still, McCain refuses to attack on that front.

We, the foot soldiers of the conservative movement, have handed John McCain dozens of fronts on which McCain could open fire. However, he has refused to make his move. He has wanted to take the high road in this thing. He mistakenly has thought that being chivalrous would win him the election. In case you haven’t heard, Sen. McCain, nice guys finish last. Nowhere has that been shown to be more true than in the realm of politics.

All of these things had me on the edge of the McCain “jumping off” point. Then, when he AGAIN this week called Obama a good, honorable man, I decided it was time to jump. So I did.

Naturally, I still loathe B. Hussein Obama, and I will still actively oppose him. I think he would be the worst president this country has ever had. I think he will turn this country into a socialist state. And I feel pretty certain that if Obama does get the office, this country may well not survive it. However, my conscious will not allow me to continue to actively support McCain any longer.

I now must try to persuade as many people as I can to vote for Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party’s nominee for president.

May God Bless and have mercy on America.
