More to Biden-Iran Than Meets the Eye?-By: Michael A. Minton

A recent news article pointed out that, thanks to all the hype over Gov. Palin’s nomination to the GOP Vice Presidential position, Mr. Biden may be suffering from a lack of media attention. Well, far be it from me to allow that to happen. Let me see if I can help out here.

According to an August 26, 2008 article written by David Timmerman for Newsmax magazine, there may well be more to Sen. Joseph Biden’s ties to the Islamic World than is already known.

As Timmerman puts it, although Biden and Obama may have jabbed at one another during the primaries, “on one issue they are firmly united: the need to forge closer ties to the government of Iran.”

Student Movement Coordination Committee for Democracy in Iran, Kaveh Mohseni, said Biden is “a great friend of the mullahs.” He notes that Biden’s campaigns “‘have been financed by Islamic charities of the Iranian regime based in California and by the Silicon Iran network,’” which Timmerman says are a group of Iranian-American businessmen and women working to end the U.S. embargo on Iran.

“‘In exchange‘” (for the contributions, one would assume-MRO‘s words), “‘the senator does his best to aid the mullahs,’” Mohseni argues.

Although Sen. Biden’s ties to pro-Tehran lobbying firms are perhaps D.C.’s worst kept secret, according to Newsmax, the “elite media” have gone out of their way to avoid the topic.

Just recently in the Senate, there was a bill that would add the Revolutionary Guard of Iran to the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations, because of its involvement in murdering U.S. troops in Iraq. Not too much to ask, right? Well, apparently it was for would-be Vice President Biden. He and fifteen fellow senators voted against the bill.

In a lame excuse as to why he refused to sign the bill, Biden told members of the Jewish Media, according to Wikipedia (a source I ONLY use for verification purposes) that “he voted against the measure out of concern that the Bush administration would misuse the measure to justify a military attack against Iran.”

The Newsmax article later goes on to say that top Bush administration official Zalmay Khalilzad, back in March of 2002, at a conference sponsored by the American-Iranian Council-today, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations -”poured cold water on Biden’s hopes.”

Khaliazad was quoted as saying, “We had hoped that after the 11 September attacks, the  Iranian regime would end its support for terrorists.” Quite the opposite happened, Khalilzad said, in that Iran not only didn’t stop its support for terror, but that the hard-line elements of Iran‘s regime “‘facilitated the movement of Al-Qa’eda terrorists escaping from Afghanistan‘ and sheltered them in Iran.”

Biden later offered to host a meeting of American and Iranian officials “in Washington - or any place else, if the Iranians had problems coming to the United States. No one in Iran ever took up his offer.” What a shocker, eh?

A delegation made up of several Democrats even endeavored a trip to Tehran last December to meet with Iranian leaders, but visas were denied by the Iranian regime.

Biden’s seeming double-standard regarding Iran seems to have angered many Iranian-Americans. On one hand, Biden condems the human rights abuses of the Iranian regime. On the other hand, “Biden has been too cozy with the supporters of the Iranian regime, which is anti-American, anti-Iranian, and has a horrendous human rights record,” said Sardar Haddad, an Iranian pro-democracy activist based in Texas.

If ever there was a true-blue bleeding-heart liberal, it has got to be Joseph Biden. Said he to Boston Globe columnist H.D.S. Greenway, “in 2005 that the United States should address Iran’s ‘emotional needs’ and conclude a ‘nonaggression pact’ with the Tehran regime.” I kid you not. I read it with my own baby blues. He wants us to address their emotional needs. With what? A laser-guided missile? Address their emotional needs my arse!

The only needs Biden is worried about are HIS, and they aren’t emotional (although one could argue that they should be) they are FINANCIAL. The next three paragraphs are quoted from Newsmax:

“Biden hasn’t shied from asking wealthy Iranian-Americans with known sympathies for the Tehran regime for campaign cash.

When Iranian-American pro-democracy activists learned that Biden planned to attend a fundraiser organized on his behalf by an Iranian Muslim charity in California, they phoned his U.S. Senate office to warn him about the group’s pro-Tehran sympathies.

But the Delaware Democrat swept aside their concerns and attended the Feb. 19, 2002, event at the California home of Dr. Sadegh Namazi-Khah, which brought in an estimated $30,000 for his U.S. Senate re-election campaign.”

Maybe this would better explain Biden’s rumored statements of several days ago that Israel would have to learn to live with a nuclear-armed Iran.
