Gun Control, who do they want to control?
Gun Control.
Who is it for? The criminal or the law abiding citizen? If you take my
guns away, the ones I use for target shooting, hunting, self defense or
collect, are you going to take away the “bad guys” guns?
Are the bad guys going to just walk up and hand them over?
Or is this their mentality?
“Gun control? It’s the best thing you can do for crooks and
gangsters. I want you to have nothing. If I’m a bad guy, I’m always
gonna have a gun. Safety locks? You’ll pull the trigger with a lock on,
and I’ll pull the trigger. We’ll see who wins.” — Sammy “The Bull” Gravano, Mafia hit man
I am guessing the bad guys love the thought of gun control. Then they have no fears about breaking into any home they would want to.
If you take away a citizen’s right to defend themselves what do you
have? You have a serf, a subject, a peon, someone dependent on the
Government for all their needs and we know how well that works!
What we need is this;
“That rifle on the wall of the labourer’s cottage or working class
flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays
there.” — George Orwell, the author of Animal Farm and 1984, himself a socialist
To prevent this;
“A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership to the bourgeoisie.” — Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
Over the years many have used gun control to control the people;
Hitler;
“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow
the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors
who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their
own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the
supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of
any sovereignty.” — Adolf Hitler (H.R. Trevor-Roper, Hitler’s Table Talks 1941-1944)
Germany established gun control1
in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews and others who were
unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
Stalin and the USSR;
In
1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded
up and exterminated. By 1987 that figure had risen to 61,911,000.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952 10,076,000
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated in Kuomintang China, and by 1987 another 35,236,000
exterminations were carried out under the Communists.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000
Mayan Indians, without the means to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979 under General Idi Amin Dada, 300,000 Christians and political rivals of Amin2, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Need I list more?
Because there are many more instances of “gun control” followed by mass
murders. Darfur( 2 million unarmed victims), the UN “safe-zones” in
Bosnia-Herzegovina (7000 unarmed Muslim men and boys murdered).
So I can see the results of citizens being unarmed. Can you?
The 2nd Amendment is there, to protect “We the People” from and oppressive government.
“We the People” are the government and it is by our will the people we
elect govern. Today I feel to many are clueless to this fact and
blindly believe the people they elect will do the right thing. So far
that has been a mistaken belief. The only right thing these elected
officials do are those that benefit their “beliefs” or the special
interest groups that support them. We have a perfect case where I live,
both our State Rep and State Senator are leftists and “teachers” and
both vote party lines and vote for any tax that comes along. They pay
particular attention to education funding and the teachers benefit
packages and pensions.
So whom do we need to protect ourselves from? The government, those that want our guns we need to ask why?
I have heard of B Hussein Obama’s desire to create a national “defense”
force. Who will make this force up and what will exactly be their
purpose? We have the National Guard, what else do we need? This Obama
defense/security/whatever he calls it seems a bit odd to me. I have my
thoughts on who would be part of this and those not actively
contributing to society, but leaching off the taxpayer come to mind.
If we give those whom do not have, the power to take, by arming them and disarming the law abiding taxpayers.
Who is screwed?
As you can clearly see if they disarm us, they control us, if they control us they own us.
We be slaves to the government then.
Is that what you want?
I don’t.

Spot on.
I ran up a post about this on an unofficial NASCAR driver's forum (seriously - offline, I was kind of asked to do this at Jamie's board).
Here's the text in full……………….
Soapbox time……………………
The entire text of the Second Amendment To The Constitution Of The United States Of America:
A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.
Do you really understand the meaning within that short passage ?
‘A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State’.
That is defined meaning the country as one shall keep a Standing Military Force to ensure national security, to repel all invaders.
‘the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed’.
The latter half of The Second Amendment is in place, through original intent, for the people as individuals to defend their own lives and that of their families and also as a last line of defense to deal with an out of control government that would usurp, subjugate or eliminate by fiat, part or all of The Constitution and the other Amendments. If you doubt defining the premise of The Second Amendment as an individual right, please see "D.C. vs. Heller" from The Supreme Court earlier in 2008.
As a person who is concerned about the safety and security of all individual Americans, along with my family and myself, I am well aware of potential negative impacts of having weapons of any type in my home. I am also acutely aware of my right as an individual to protect my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. I therefore choose to legally own and have been somewhat extensively trained in weapon systems of various types, including firearms.
The State in which I live (Florida) highly encourages proper education in the handling, safe use and storage of all weapons, not just firearms. There are in-state statutes to uphold the belief that, while it is an individual's right to own weapons systems of choice, there is also a means of ensuring persons of deviant behavior are not able to legally obtain said weapons systems.
Note: As an explanation of my term 'weapons systems' in regard to licensing and/or registration measures, The State Of Florida includes (specifically) handguns, knives, electronic weapons or devices (Tasers, etc.), tear gas systems and 'billies' (nightsticks, etc.).
Also, there are mechanisms in place to ensure the general population of weapons system owners are educated on more than just basic safety and handling aspects of their choice of weapons. I whole-heartedly agree with requirements such as these, as I sincerely believe that all rights, not just Second Amendment rights, come with equal responsibilities of the individual.
Along with millions of other American citizens here in Florida, I have taken advantage of offered (and the one mandatory) safety programs, weapons handling, operational safety courses and more, all in order to ensure my ability to safely make use of my Second Amendment right with good conscience.
http://www.nrahq.com ……. The National Rifle Association.
If you have any thought of retaining your guns/weapons with the incoming administration's attitudes towards all individual rights, not just The Second Amendment, please join the National Rifle Association and help keep our rights secured. $25 per year is all it takes. You do not need to own a gun to join.
………….off my soapbox.
(PS……. This post is not about illegal possession of weapons and consequences thereof and I have no plans to address that matter in this thread.)
Cheers !

History alludes people especially the history of what happens when a government unarms the populace, thanks for the great post
Actually the second amendment most definitely does not give everyone the right to own guns. Not at all! Those of us in favor of control are not saying no one should have one- I personally don't want to make it easy for Columbine's and Virgina Techs to happen. If we make it harder for kids to get guns and make it nessecary for people to know how to use guns there might be less accidents and there might be less shootings in school
