Safe Homes Initiative: Over Our Dead Bodies!
About a week ago I tapped out an article about a serious violation of rights being pursued by the D.C. Mayor and the cities police department. You can Read About it HERE. Apparently, “the masses” aren’t as gullible or naive as the mayor had hoped, as public outcry over the initiative has all but stopped in its tracks.
The Safe Homes Initiative, in its original form, would essentially allow D.C. Police officers to show up at any ones door whenever, hand them a sheet of paper for them to sign granting them access to search your home. And then gut the home looking for any firearms or firearm paraphernalia, of which they would remove and either try to indict you for crimes, or destroy the stuff.
They apparently don’t like the 2nd Amendment much in D.C.
Well, looks like the people have spoken, and loudly at that. Not only has the starting date for the initiative been pushed back clear until mid-June, but now it has been re-vamped to the point that a person has to actually call the Police themselves to come to their house to search for weapons.
And some involved parties, namely the chief Cathy L. Lanier, are doing some serious backpedaling to save some face in this. She had stated, “I should have realized that the program needed to go out with a whole lot more information, I should have put it out with very clear facts.”
Hate to break it to you chief, but it was pretty clear as it was. You wanted the freedom to go anywhere you wanted to rid the populace of firearms in the D.C. areas. Am I wrong? I doubt that I am.

Whilst a minor step in the right direction, the assault on peoples 2nd Amendment rights should be eliminated, period. But we take what we can get these days in the mass onslaught of certain groups calling for more taxes, less rights, etc. Especially in D.C. which STILL has the highest violent crime rate in the country. Even with their 30 year long ban on firearms.
Go Figure.

I would just hand it back to them unsigned. And if the individual was NOT wearing a badge and a gun, I might just tear it in half, throw it on the ground in front of him, and tell him to perform an anatomical improbability on himself. It’s not a good idea to annoy cops in this manner, though.
