Obama Backer Calls Gun Owners and Hunters Racists and Anti-Semites
Per “Florida congressman points to Palin to rally Jews to Obama,” Rep. Alcee Hastings denounced hunters and gun owners as racists and anti-Semites, and by implication beer-swilling NASCAR-watching pickup-truck-driving redneck white trash. This is consistent with Obama’s own description of Pennsylvanians as “bitter” small down people who “cling to guns and religion,” and the common reference to working people as “white trash” on Obama’s own Web site.
- Rep. Alcee Hastings told an audience of Jewish Democrats Wednesday that they should be wary of Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin because “anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks.”
We are of Jewish identity, and we live in Northeast Pennsylvania. Company parking lots are half-empty here on opening day of deer season (as we have no moose). Alcee Hastings therefore insults our intelligence by telling us that our neighbors are all a bunch of ignorant beer-swilling rednecks who hate Jews and Black people, but we will be sure to let our neighbors know what he, and presumably Obama, think of them. Meanwhile, it is Barack Obama who consorted openly with, and endorsed without reservation, Al Sharpton and his National Action Network. It was the NAN, under Sharpton’s leadership and supervision, that shouted racial and anti-Semitic epithets at a Jewish-owned store (Freddy’s Fashion Mart) before one of Sharpton’s deranged followers set it on fire. We do not need Alcee Hastings to create imaginary enemies among our working-class gun-owning neighbors, because we know full well who our real enemies are.

So referring to SARAH PALIN as caring more about guns and field stripping a moose than minorities is the same as calling ALL hunters and gun owners racist anti-semites?
I think you’re taking this a little personally, and in doing so, are spreading lies against terms like ‘white trash’ being used on Obama’s website.
I can understand taking offense at Rep. Hastings’ comments, but responding by lying about wording on the Obama official website discredits your point.
Out of curiosity, are you equally offended at McCain backer Lynn DeRothchild referring to gun owning people of faith as ‘rednecks’?
Vote for whomever you feel best represents your interests, but please do not spread lies out of anger. Some people who do not know better may take your comments as the truth and let it effect their decision.
[...] it just me, or is that freaking crazy? Winged Hussar at Grizzly Groundswell and Wesley Smith at Secondhand Smoke are finding Congressman Hastings stuck on stupid too. Sphere: [...]
@OCKerouac:
Obama’s supporters frequently use the term “white trash” at my.barackobama.com, over which the Obama campaign exercises editorial control by deleting material it finds “offensive” or “disrespectful.”
They have applied this term to both Sarah Palin and Bill Clinton, along with working people from Appalachia who won’t vote for Obama because they are “racist.”
