Why is the ADL Collaborating with a Vicious Anti-Semite and his Hate Group?
Is the Anti-Defamation League whitewashing yet another racist and Jew-hater to protect Democrats?
It is a matter of record that, last September, [cref 2813 the Anti-Defamation League whitewashed the most vicious imaginable anti-Semitic (and other) hate speech from MoveOn.org's now-disgraced Action Forum].

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) welcomed the responsiveness of MoveOn.org Political Action in removing anti-Semitic messages that had been posted on the Action Forum on their Web site.
In response to a letter of concern, Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn Political Action, has been in direct contact with ADL. He indicated that MoveOn.org found the comments abhorrent and had them removed.
ADL is pleased with Mr. Pariser’s responsiveness to our concerns and believes the matter has been resolved satisfactorily.
The vast part of our collection of MoveOn.org anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, and even racist hate speech was harvested from the Action Forum for two or three weeks after Pariser said it had been removed (as described above), but ADL nonetheless stuck to this story. In other words, ADL lied to American Jews and the public as a whole to protect MoveOn.org. This makes it eminently clear that ADL’s opposition to anti-Semitism and other forms of hate speech ends where the left wing of the Democratic Party begins.
While we can only speculate on ADL’s reason for protecting exactly the kind of hate organization it claims to oppose, the only motive that comes to mind is the desire to protect the left wing of the Democratic Party from the consequences of its own hateful actions. The same applies to Abraham Foxman’s recent collaboration with one of today’s most vicious racists and anti-Semites: Al Sharpton of the National Action Network.
Foxman and Sharpton Issue Joint Statement on Symbols of Hate
New York, NY, November 1, 2007….Abraham H. Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, and Rev. Al Sharpton, President of the National Action Network, today issued the following statement regarding the series of recent displays of nooses and swastikas in our community:The recent epidemic of nooses and swastikas appearing in various places in our communities are acts of hate and are intended to intimidate and instill fear. Such acts are despicable, and we call upon all people of good will - of all races, religions and ethnicities - to stand up and say such acts will not be tolerated.
The problem is not, of course, with what Foxman and Sharpton say about nooses and swastikas. The problem is that Abraham Foxman’s mere association with this professional Jew-hater and racist gives him credibility, and a clean bill of health from a prominent “Jewish” organization. We do not know why Foxman chose to do this, although there is always the possibility that Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s endorsement of Al Sharpton has finally become a serious liability to their campaigns. We can only speculate that the Anti-Defamation League feels obligated to fix this problem for the Democrats by giving Sharpton the same kind of whitewash it gave MoveOn.org. Condemnation of Sharpton can now be met with statements like, “He can’t be an anti-Semite because the head of the ADL issued a joint statement with him!”
Hillary Clinton’s, Barack Obama’s, and John Edwards’ Problem
The fact that Republicans are not circulating this information all over the Internet, or dragging it through the Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and Michael Savage shows does not speak very highly for the competence of Republican organizations. This is why bloggers must circulate the information as widely as possible. It is particularly important to circulate it in Jewish forums where Jews who normally vote Democratic will see it. While James Baker did his party (and common decency) no favor by saying “F*** the Jews, they don’t vote for us anyway,” it seems that Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s position is “F*** the Jews, they’ll vote for us even if we wear swastikas and take the oath of office on Mein Kampf.” In addition, their endorsement of Al Sharpton is hardly complimentary to decent Afro-Americans, noting that racists and anti-Semites appeal universally to the absolute dregs of the societies they claim to represent. By suggesting that Sharpton can “deliver the Black vote,” Clinton, Edwards, and Obama are effectively equating Afro-Americans to the class of white people whose votes a racist like David Duke or Tom Metzger can deliver: the absolute dregs of society.
Senator Barack Obama (Ill): “Reverend Sharpton is a voice for the voiceless, and a voice for the dispossessed. What National Action Network has done is so important to change America, and it must be changed from the bottom up.” (The National Action Network “changed America” by parading around a Jewish-owned store in Harlem while chanting racial and anti-Semitic epithets, with Sharpton personally throwing in “white interloper,” along with arson threats that were later put into effect.)
Senator Hillary Clinton (NY): “I have enjoyed a long and positive relationship with Reverend Al Sharpton and National Action Network, and I don’t ever remember saying “no” to them and I intend to remain their partner in civil rights as I clean the dirt from under the carpet in the oval office when I am elected President.”
Senator John Edwards: “I will work with National Action Network to fight poverty and seek justice for those marginalized in our society.”
Al Sharpton’s Track Record: This is what Abraham Foxman and the ADL are whitewashing

It would have taken no great effort for the reporters covering the Apollo debate to have walked across 125th Street from the theater to visit Freddy’s Fashion Mart, where in 1995 eight people died in a murderous rampage inspired by Mr. Sharpton. Mr. Sharpton is best-known for the Tawana Brawley hoax, in which he insisted that a 15-year-old black girl had been abducted and raped by a band of white men practicing Irish Republican Army rituals. In fact she had made up the story to protect herself from her violent stepfather. But at Freddy’s, Mr. Sharpton was even more malevolent. He turned a landlord-tenant dispute between the Jewish owner of Freddy’s and a black subtenant into a theater of hatred.
Picketers from Mr. Sharpton’s National Action Network, sometimes joined by “the Rev.” himself, marched daily outside the store, screaming about “bloodsucking Jews” and “Jew bastards” and threatening to burn the building down. After weeks of increasingly violent rhetoric, one of the protesters, Roland Smith, took Mr. Sharpton’s words about ousting the “white interloper” to heart. He ran into the store shouting, “It’s on!” He shot and wounded three whites and a Pakistani, whom he apparently mistook for a Jew. Then he set the fire, which killed five Hispanics, one Guyanese and one African-American–a security guard whom protesters had taunted as a “cracker lover.” Smith then fatally shot himself.
We are confident that Abraham Foxman and the Anti-Defamation League don’t want any of Al Sharpton’s “bloodsucking Jews” to contribute to its $40 million or $50 million budget, whose current purpose seems to be to enable and whitewash the anti-Semites at MoveOn.org while actively promoting the reputation of the racists and anti-Semites of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network. We are even more confident that the ADL doesn’t want contributions from any money-grubbing Jewish “diamond merchants,” as shown here.
Al Sharpton: The Democrat’s David Duke
But it is impossible to imagine, say, David Duke running for president as a Republican and not being shunned by every leading figure in the party. Impossible to imagine his campaign appearances being covered in news accounts that made no mention of his history in the Ku Klux Klan and his links to neo-Nazis. Impossible to imagine that he would be treated as just another candidate, albeit one with a “controversial” past. No one would roll over for Duke. Why are they rolling over for Sharpton?
After all, Sharpton’s résumé is at least as vile as Duke’s.
…1991: A Hasidic Jewish driver in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights section accidentally kills Gavin Cato, a 7-year-old black child, and antisemitic riots erupt. Sharpton races to pour gasoline on the fire. At Gavin’s funeral he rails against the “diamond merchants” — code for Jews — with “the blood of innocent babies” on their hands. He mobilizes hundreds of demonstrators to march through the Jewish neighborhood, chanting, “No justice, no peace.” A rabbinical student, Yankel Rosenbaum, is surrounded by a mob shouting “Kill the Jews!” and stabbed to death.
Right. Abraham Foxman is now issuing joint statements with an individual who not only denounces Jews as “diamond merchants,” but also says they have “the blood of innocent babies” on their hands. We don’t recall whether Sharpton also said the Jews were making matzos with the blood of those innocent babies, but what he said was more than enough to help kill a Jewish rabbinical student in a reenactment of the Night of the Broken Glass.
Nordlinger adds even more:
There was more, of course-always more. In the spring of 1989, the Central Park “wilding” occurred. That was the monstrous rape and beating of a young white woman, known to most of the world as “the jogger.” The hatred heaped on her by Sharpton and his claque is almost impossible to fathom, and wrenching to review. …Outside the courthouse, they [Sharpton and his entourage] chanted, “The boyfriend did it! The boyfriend did it!” They denounced the victim as “Whore!” They screamed her name, over and over (because most publications refused to print it, though several black-owned ones did). Sharpton brought Tawana Brawley to the trial one day, to show her, he said, the difference between white justice and black justice. He arranged for her to meet the jogger’s attackers, whom she greeted with comradely warmth. In another of his publicity stunts, he appealed for a psychiatrist to examine the victim. “It doesn’t even have to be a black psychiatrist,” he said, generously. He added: “We’re not endorsing the damage to the girl — if there was this damage.” …But the torching, so to speak, continued. In 1995-four years into the putative New Sharpton-there was another, fatal case in which Sharpton had a guilty hand: Freddy’s Fashion Mart.
In Harlem, a white store owner — no, worse: a Jewish one — was accused of driving a black store owner out of business. At one of the many rallies meant to scare the Jewish owner away, Sharpton charged that “there is a systemic and methodical strategy to eliminate our people from doing business off 125th Street. I want to make it clear . . . that we will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business.” Sharpton’s colleague, Morris Powell, said of the Jewish owner — Sharpton’s “white interloper” — “We’re going to see that this cracker suffers. Reverend Sharpton is on it.”
As far as we know, Sharpton and the National Action Network have never even given lip service to an apology, let alone tried to set things right with the families of the people their followers killed. Sharpton has never apologized for his defamation of innocent people in the Tawana Brawley scandal either.
This is what the Anti-Defamation League is now supporting, enabling, and empowering. It is clear that ADL is now, far from opposing anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred, an agent and enabler for it.
