There are unspoken understandings that women have with each other where certain male habits and remarks are concerned. A good starting point is asking the question: Do Dads make good ’stay at home’ moms?”

For instance, if there is a party and some man says, “ Hey, I love kids so much, I could easily stay at home and do what my wife does. I mean what’s the big deal? At that moment, every woman in the room who is a mother just looks at him and thinks to herself, “ YOU IDIOT! You’d last one day doing my job but I’d sure in hell love to see you taking a crack at what you think is NO BIG DEAL!” Men talk like this because they live in the ‘Land of Duh’ when it comes to the down and dirty business of cleaning the house, doing the laundry, mowing the grass, jockeying the kids back and forth to Girl Scouts, Little League, dance class, karate class, sleep overs, cooking, picking up the laundry, cleaning the dog poo off the front walk way so hubby won’t step in it. No, hubbys live in the ‘Land of Duh’ because if he does have to be a house mom for a day - he’ll either suck the kid into watching football with him , tie the 3 year old’s leg to a chair so he won’t run outside, or let him ride piggyback for 10 minutes - until he’s (DAD) totally wiped out….then tie his leg to the chair!
I went to my doctor for a check up and, although he’s 60 years old, has three children with another in the oven - he made that same remark to me. This is a high profile doctor and one of the best in his field. But at 60 - this guy is telling me that he’d be happy giving up his successful medical practice and just be a “stay at home dad!“. I said, “ Right! Sure you would - but don’t forget the daily laundry and ironing, changing of diapers, housework, driving the older kids back and forth to school, dance class, Little League, the library, taking your daughter to a girlfriends house for a sleep over, grocery shopping, picking up the cleaning and cooking for the family - as now it is the little woman who is the bread winner. Oh, there is one thing hubbies like to do and that is the S word - sit and drink a beer, sit on a state of the art power mower and “mow” the grass…but foremost it’s sitting and watching football. For a man, the S word comes close to being an aphrodisiac. But for mom, who is inside the house, the S word means scrubbing the new hardwood floors that hubby just contracted for without even mentioning to the little woman. You know, one of those deals where his best friends nephew - who just got out of jail, now going regularly to A.A. and trying soooooooooo hard to turn his life around by starting a new business so the Judge will lift the restraining order against him - put there by his wife. Had I known all this, I might have screamed “WHAT PLANET ARE YOU ON? ARE YOU AWARE OF THE FACT THAT I’LL HAVE TO CLEAN THESE $^*^%r$(^(&^r%&$@!!! FLOORS ON MY HANDS AND KNEES BECAUSE SPONGE MOPS LEAVE STREAKS!” There’s a couple of S words for you.
If mom is now the breadwinner, she’ll come home from work - grumpy, tired and totally unappreciative of how hard he’s worked. The minute she walks in the door, she’ll start talking ad nauseum about “her” hard day at the office with people you never heard of. At this juncture, the smart stay-at-home spouse just says, “Honey I know you’ve had a hard day at work - so just go relax for a minute and dinner will be served before you know it!” But you know this isn’t going to happen - he’s just picked up the telephone and had pizza delivered. Do Dads make good ’stay at home moms?’ ARE YOU INSANE. NO! NO! NO!
I’m saying all this to drive home the point - while stirring the stew with one hand and holding the new baby, who needs his diaper changed, with the other - and wondering if I forgot to use a deodorant after working up a sweat over a hot stove. Hubby called thirty minutes earlier to inform me that his boss and wife are coming over for din din - “so honey spiff up!” It’s moments like this when I think to myself that there is much to be said for keeping ones virginity and joining a nunnery from the get go. My doctor friend probably has a live in nanny, 2 maids, a cook and his role essentially is just hanging out with the kids. Wealthy people aren’t realistic examples because they have 5 people doing the job that most moms do alone - but I thought his dream like perspective was rather amusing. After a couple of days of living a real stay at home mom’s life, he would probably get so bored, he’d start yearning for one small case of measles that he could treat from home!
Most men rarely offer to help clean up after dinner - they tell the kids to do this if they’re old enough. Rather, they belch and say “Thanks honey - good chow!” and head for the television to turn on the show they like - NOTE: I said they like, i.e. cage fighting, the fights, old re runs of Steven Segal and God help us all during football season! Then when it’s time for bed, men wonder why we say, “Not tonight honey, I have a headache!” No truer saying was ever made than ‘a woman’s work is never done.’ Even when I finally fall asleep, little Suzie comes in and thumps me (not him) on the shoulder and tells mommy she can’t sleep because she just had a dream that a bear ate her. By that time, I’m so tired that I’d probably say yes to Hitler. So little Suzie crawls in bed between us (note: Dad is in such a deep sleep that even his snoring doesn’t awaken him) - her little legs are wrapped around my legs and then she falls asleep. My eyelids once again close - and open rather suddenly 15 minutes later when I feel something wet running down my leg. Oh yes, little Suzie has a bed wetting problem that hasn’t quite gone away. Now I have to get up and also wake up Dad who says to me ,”Jesus Christ! What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know I have to get up in 5 hours…I have to work or have you forgotten?” I quietly hold my tongue and reply, so as not to wake little Suzie, “Nothing is wrong with me you big jerk, but your daughter just peed all over my legs. Now carry this kid back to her bed while I change the sheets.”
And so it goes - Little Suzie goes back to sleep in her own bed, Dad goes downstairs and sleeps on the couch and I’m stuck changing the sheets and taking a shower - all the while, my family is now resting in their beds. It’s now 3 am and in a few hours, I’ll have to get up and start all over again beginning with making school lunches, making breakfast and yelling a ‘Have a Great Day Hun’ to hubby. No sane person would ever ask the question, “Do dads make good ’stay at home’ moms?”

A man’s basic nature is this: Man: Either I can chew gum or I can walk! But I can’t do both at the same time.
Have a great day - and find something to make you smile - something that makes your heart bounce a little. this picture should do the trick.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world”.
- Thomas Jefferson
We are parked at the edge of a cliff. We have a choice – slip the car into reverse and back away or hit the gas and plunge to the canyon floor. We are at the most dangerous point in our history in the last fifty years. We must stop these bills before we are on a road from which turning back might be impossible. Remember, this is a multi pronged strategy by the democrats. One prong is the proposed legislation, the other is the usurping of unconstitutional power through the Czars, government agencies, nationalizing businesses and financial thuggery by the Federal Reserve to move the agenda forward if legislation fails.
“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”- Patrick Henry
These bills must be stopped and they must be stopped now. Here is a quick recap of two pending bills before Congress that will kill jobs, drive up taxes, increase the cost of living, feed inflation and redistribute wealth.
Cap & Tax (The Waxman Markey Climate Change Bill)
This is going to essentially be the biggest “disguised tax” in U.S. history. President Obama promised no new taxes for 95% of Americans. This bill is at its’ heart a tax on energy. While defenders say it only taxes dirty, carbon based energy turns out that is about 90% of the energy used in this country. An average American will see their energy bills increase between $1000 & $2000 per year depending on where they live and how their energy is produced.
This bill will also result in significant job losses as energy companies struggle to become compliant with new government regulations and businesses struggle with the higher price of energy. Some analysts are saying job losses will average 2.5 million per year for two to three years.
Another thing that should worry us all… after a draft of the bill had been made easily accessible to the public for over a month, just hours before the bill was voted on 350 pages of amendments were tacked on containing God knows what! Another bill passed that nobody read completely after the last minute additions – I’m scared, are you?
However, while the government holds U.S. businesses to these ridiculous standards. Meanwhile, the Chinese are polluting the hell out of the planet and kicking our ass at manufacturing. Good thing global warming is a myth!
Ask yourself why as an American, your standard of living should be lowered and your way of life changed to finance this nonsense while the rest of the world is free to continue on their merry way, doing what they want and kicking our butts in the process?
We need to focus on our Senators and send them a clear message that we do not want this bill to pass. There is no time to waste it needs your immediate attention. To learn more about The Waxman Markey Climate Change Bill or Cap & Trade check my blog category under Global Warming for several very specific posts.
Remember these famous words from Emma Brindal, a climate justice campaigner coordinator for Friends of the Earth: “A climate change response must have at its heart a redistribution of wealth and resources.”
Employees Free Choice Act/ Card Check
The Employee Free Choice Act, or “card check,” has been introduced in the past three Congresses, but it always failed to win the 60 votes needed to pass controversial legislation in the Senate.
Now there is real trouble on the horizon – his name is Al Franken. Today the Minnesota Supreme Court confirmed the results of the controversial Senate race declaring Al Franken the winner. With his certification complete, the democrats might finally have enough votes to push this bill through as he becomes the 60th member of the democratic Senate caucus.
The proposed law gives workers a choice of forming a union through majority sign-up (“card check”) or an election by secret ballot. Critics warn that this will lead to employee intimidation to sign cards and will deny individuals the right to a secret ballot. The secret ballot has been the safety valve in the organizing process. Employees could go along with process to allow a vote by signing the organizing petition but had the safety of the secret ballot to protect their individual vote. As a manufacturing manager for 30 years I have had a front row seat to union organizing efforts twice. In both cases, employees were under tremendous peer pressure to sign the petition. However, both times the union was defeated by the secret ballot. It sure seemed like the process worked as it was supposed to each time. The other major criticism is that it will kill jobs because small to medium size employers will not be able to afford unionized shops, in many this will drive them out of business. The business community is geared up to fight the bill.
Supporters say the legislation will improve wages, benefits, and working conditions by helping workers form unions.
“Voting is the most precious right of every citizen, and we have a moral obligation to ensure the integrity of our voting process.” – Hillary Clinton
Shouldn’t this apply towards something as important as a union election too? After all the signing the card means that you want to hear more. After both sides present their case you go cast your vote in private.
So why do we need this law? First, it will help the unions get easier victories and build their dwindling membership. Oh, yeah and the labor unions strongly support the democrats. This is as much about politics as it is about employee’s rights.
There is one more aspect to the bill that is equally as troubling as the secret ballot issue. That is the method by which negotiations would be handled under the bill. If the employer and the union did not reach a deal in 120 days, a government arbitration panel could intervene and take over the negotiations.
For many, the government arbitration clause looks to be a deal breaker. As long as that provision is in the bill, said Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, “I don’t know how anybody can talk compromise.” He added, “If it wasn’t for the political power of the national unions, this wouldn’t have a chance. But they are powerful.”
Ironically, during the 2008 elections anti card check ads featured the head liberal of his time – former S.D. Sen. George McGovern as their spokesman. Even George could not get behind elimination of the secret ballot to protect the privacy of each employee. We must fight this legislation. With unemployment already tracking at 9.4% nationally, we can not afford more job loss. It’s bad for business, it is un-American and since when are we against a secret ballot? Write your Senator and tell them –just say no!
Unfortunately, Congress is currently littered with a variety of proposed legislation that supports the administration’s social reengineering agenda. We must be vigilant in identifying these bills and fighting them. After all, the only thing at stake is the American Dream!
“I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.
Most bad government has grown out of too much government”. – Thomas Jefferson

Sotomayor Achilles’ heel? Wrongly imprisoned man
Jeff Deskovic served 16 years of a 15-life sentence for rape and murder. One of his appeals, six years before his innocence was proved, was rejected by Sonia Sotomayor on a technicality.
In nominating her to succeed Justice Souter, President Obama cited her empathy. This quote from the World Net Daily article [linked above] says it all.
According to reports, his lawyer asked a court clerk about the deadline and was told it had to be mailed by that date. Wrong. The court rules required delivery by that date.
When the paperwork arrived late it was dismissed. Eventually Sotomayor and other appellate judge found that such a mistake didn’t “rise to the level of an extraordinary circumstance” and dismissed it.
“The district court correctly dismissed Deskovic’s petition as untimely,” the appeals court decision from Sotomayor concluded. A subsequent appeal was dismissed with the terse: “It is ordered that said petition for rehearing is denied.”
In light of the fact that a subsequent search discovered a dna match to the murderer, who confessed to the crime, we can only conclude that Judge Sotomayor’s empathy only extends to members of her own ethnicity. Her lack of empathy for a wrongly convicted man cost him six years in prison.
What if Deskovic had been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit? She’d have sent an innocent man to the gallows. Lets point this fact out to our Senators prior to her confirmation hearing.

In a world where we find little peace, love or charity - I’ve discovered that I have to look within my own being for spiritual reconciliation and happiness rather than looking to others for examples of exemplary behavior. I call it ‘Sitting with Sam’ -a personal relationship with God.
As an ex smoker of 3 1/2 packs a day, I know how difficult it is to quit this habit. But at that juncture in my life, I was quite different that the person I am today. When I was young, I was a wild one - something I’m not proud to admit. But during that period of my life, I had an epiphany of sorts and realized that I couldn’t teach my children good habits - if I continued to smoke as well as entertain all my other bad ways. No threats about how bad smoking was for my health even made a dent because it was a habit I thoroughly enjoyed and I was 100% addicted. www.healthypinoy.com/health/articles/smoking/ill-effects-smoking.htmln I was a chain smoker who couldn’t take the subway in New York without getting off before reaching my destination to have a cigarette.
I was also going through a rough time as my ex husband was a babe magnet and I was constantly in a state of jealousy over that - so not only did I smoke like crazy but began drinking like crazy. Like Mutt and Jeff, the two went together. One day my ex husband informed me that he was going to Italy to work for three months - and I could literally feel my life falling apart as all I did was obsess over how many Italian women he’d be sleeping with.
I decided to go to L.A. and stay with an aunt until he returned. One day I was sitting on the edge of the bed wanting a drink and a cigarette - when I looked down at my hands which were yellow from nicotine. It was then that I began taking a long hard look at the person I had become. Although I had a very successful career - I left much to be desired as a morally sound human being. That was the defining moment in my life and the beginning of my relationship with ‘Sitting with Sam’ -a personal relationship with God. Sam is my love name for God. I stopped smoking cold turkey that very day and also discovered that drinking and smoking went together - that ended as well. It was, surely to God, the hardest week of my life because every time I looked at a tree trunk, I wanted to smoke it.
I call this picture, Sam holding a wild, neurotic young girl who was two clicks away from total meltdown…yet, somehow God grabbed hold of me and that was the beginning of my new life and ‘Sitting with Sam’ - a personal relationship with God.’ It didn’t change my husband but it changed me. I began taking long hard looks at myself - no easy task as I’d sugarcoated my actions for so long. There is a beautiful line from a great poet named Maulana Rum aka Rumi who states, “When you begin to see clearly that which is diseased within yourself - that is when you gallop opon the way.” And God only knows my life is proof of this. The more I wanted God in my life - the greater carloads of adversity landed on my shoulders. It was as though they attracted each other. But my stopping smoking and my new found courage in facing my faults braced me for the years of struggle which lay before me.
Sometimes photographs best express our feelings without having to write a thesis on the ’simplicity of God confounds the wisdom of man.’ I think we are spiritual beings having a human experience and not vice versa. I’ve also come to believe that if Sam isn’t in every aspect of my life - he is not there at all. I’m not a religious person - in the sense that I don’t go to church - but I am a lover of spirituality and I do know this: If I can turn my life around - anyone can! Why do I say this? Because we have two ways to go which is up (positive) or down (negative.) I made my choice that day, so long ago, sitting on my aunts bed - looking at my stained fingers from nicotine. That was the beginning. So I guess what I am trying to say is this: We should go about our lives, living each day as best we get, never breaking vows and promises, doing the best we can in our careers, our family life, our hobbies - but in the end, all that matters is God because all else - we cannot take with us.
You might want to try this: Set a time each day to sit quietly with God - talk to Him and allow that essence of him to accompany you in all that you do. Give it a shot - if it can turn around an immoral wild young girl - then it can do the same for you. All that’s needed is commitment and away you’ll go. I hope I haven’t bored your pants off with all of this but sometimes I just feel like sharing…letting you know a little more about myself.
Have a great day my friends and don’t allow anything of this world to so permeate your thoughts that it pushes you out of your remembrance of that great Power that sustains us all. For myself ‘Sitting with Sam’ - a personal relationship with God is my life line. Get Grizzly with those negative thoughts that try and drag you down!

From America’s Watchtower
By Mr Pink Eyes
I have written before about how the government was going to use the drug violence in Mexico and at the United States border as an excuse to implement strict gun control laws and while this hasn’t happened yet there is something else going on in Texas that is equally as unconstitutional and frightening.
The ATF is actively going door to door in Texas and searching for weapons in people’s homes who have no criminal record, without just cause. Their only crime is that they have recently bought guns, and for reasons that only the ATF knows these purchases, although legal, are suspicious.
And it goes beyond that. Because, according to federal law, they cannot compile a federal database on gun owners the ATF is walking into Texas gunshops and combing through their records, just for the hell of it, looking for anything they can use.
If you are a law abiding gun owner who is simply unemployed that is reason enough for you to be a suspect.
People who are legally in the United States and have clean criminal records, but are facing economic problems are often recruited by traffickers to buy weapons on their behalf in order to shield themselves from scrutiny.
But anybody seems to be under scrutiny by the ATF in Texas:
Another tip took agents on a 30-minute drive from the shack to a sprawling home with a pool in the back and an American flag out front.
It turned out two handguns, of a type drug gangsters prefer, were bought by a pastor for target practice
This pastor’s only crime was buying the same type of handgun that gangsters like. For that he was hassled and interviewed by the ATF.
The ATF appears to be out in full force, without probable cause and without justification, and most of all without a warrant, hassling people who are just exercising their second amendment rights and looking for any reason to arrest people.
Is it any wonder that guns and ammunition have been flying off the shelves since Barack Obama became president? Second amendment advocates are afraid that President Obama is going to implement strict gun control laws and they are buying weapons and ammunition while they still can. People who aren’t real friendly to the second amendment claim that second amendment advocates are just being paranoid; that nothing in Obama’s record or actions so far give the impression that he will infringe on the second amendment. But when you read stories such as this one it appears that gun owners are correct about President Obama’s disdain for the second amendment.
Instead of stopping the flow of illegal aliens into this country the ATF is hassling law abiding, gun owning, constitutionalist citizens. Something is very, very wrong here.

Sent to me from SM @ Soldier’s Angels (official) thouhgt I’d pass it on to you. Have a great 4th of July Holiday stay safe all!
Have a safe 4th of July weekend! LET FREEDOM RING!
Independence Day specifically recognizes the Second Continental Congress’ adoption of the Declaration of Independence. But we can extend our thoughts and reflections on this day, and honor the United States’ continuing commitment to protecting freedom and the spreading of democracy. Since declaring independence from Great Britain in 1776 (and sacrificing dearly to win it), the United States has risen as the world’s champion of liberty and freedom.
We should include in our thoughts on July 4th, 2009 not just the forefathers who resolved to sever ties with England, but also the men who fought so dutifully to defend the decision. And we should also take time to honor the sacrifice of all men and women who have worn U.S. military uniforms in the ensuing 232 years. These people have served to ensure our freedom and the freedom of people in foreign countries. Today we continue this struggle in Afghanistan and Iraq—and we know that freedom and liberty will prevail. People say “support the troops.” They could also say “support freedom.” Troops and freedom: The two are one and the same.
Service members who serve literally keep freedom alive and well. The men who signed that declaration in Philadelphia long ago would today be proud of our nation’s heroes accomplishments. Proud, to see that their beliefs and convictions have been upheld and protected.
Happy Fourth of July! Please be safe and continue to support our troops!
A big thank you from all of us at Soldiers’ Angels.

I am beginning to think that this is America the Loony Bin. While the world mourns the death of the King of Pop - Michael Jackson, do we mourn our dead soldiers as we mourn him? I wonder how many even give a thought to the many deaths of our sons and daughters living in that hellish part of the universe called the far east. www.urbanconservative.com/2007/03/05/thoughts-about-the-war-in-iraq/.I think the most maddening thing about all that is dominating the news this week is the hypocrisy of it all. If the word Michael Jackson was mentioned in any social setting in the past four years, you got a frown or “the look” but now - those very same people are lifting him up to Spiritual Knighthood - the same as they have done with Barack Obama…a President that is destroying this country quicker than you can whistle Dixie. What does this say about the consciousness of the citizens of America?
Today, the death of Michael Jackson has actually prompted security experts to voice concern that the death of Michael Jackson actually trumps the news coverage affecting Iran. Farrah Fawcett also died on the same day - thus her death documentary has been upstaged by Michael Jackson’s death on the same day…and Ed McMahon is trailing far behind. This world is in love with it’s movie stars and all they know about them is what the tabloids pump into their consciousness and the image they project on screen and onstage. WAKE UP! THAT’S SHOW BIZ NOT REAL LIFE. Thus the media insanity will continue all week long as more of our children lose their lives in the far east…unnoticed, while the American left blows it’s nose on the American flag and kisses a Socialist Squirrel President’s back side who returns the favor by blowing his nose on the Constitution. ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/06/arlington-cemetery/arlington-cemetery-photography Do we mourn the dead soldiers as we mourn Michael Jackson? The answer is a resounding YES! YES! YES!

This will be a good week for Kleenex - but will it a good week for those families of the soldiers who lost their lives this past week as well? These pictures tell it all. Do we mourn our dead soldiers as we mourn Michael Jackson? I think we all know the answer to that.
But as bad as things appear to be - there is always room for hope - there is always that private place within our innermost being where we can spend some quality time with our Maker. I call him “Sam”…and each morning I get up in the wee hours of the morning and we sit together. He knows our heart. Words aren’t really necessary - but sometimes it just make me feel better to talk to Him. I think He listens to the heart of man and not the words. Love is what draws Him to us.
The main thing is to find something to make your heart bounce a little - something as beautiful as a butterfly wing flying to the under music and subtleties of nature. Let that beauty permeate your thoughts rather than moaning and groaning over all the evils in this world. If we can make our very best effort and do some good, that’s great - but why allow our consciousness to be stained by the world’s backside. I once read these writings from an unknown Buddhist Monk. “We are spiritual beings having a human experience - not human beings having a spiritual experience.” Sadly many have neither…don’t let us be one of them. Always look up!

Blood Samples Raise Questions of Privacy

…”Once learning the genetics of one child, you could see an insurance company seeing that possibility for the next child and making it clear that this is a preexisting condition that the company would not cover. From American Vision: Give Me Money
“The Bible does not minimize the importance of economics. The Garden of Eden makes mention of gold and precious stones: “The gold of that land is good” (Genesis 2:11-12). Jesus used money as a teaching device in many of His parables. John MacArthur, pastor of Grace Community Church, Panorama City, California, said that
16 out of 38 of Christ’s parables deal with money; more is said in the New Testament about money than heaven and hell combined; five times more is said about money than prayer; and while there are 500 plus verses on both prayer and faith, there are over 2,000 verses dealing with money and possessions.[1]
One of the criteria for leadership in the church is based on how a man uses money (1 Tim. 3:3). This includes management of his own household (v. 4). As Christians we have no biblical warrant to avoid the topic of money, investments, savings, and inheritance. A case could be made that an elder who does not have money to manage is not a good candidate for the office. And what applies to church government should apply as well to civil government. One of the reasons our economy is in a mess is that most of the men and women holding office have never owned a business. Economics is a biblical word rich with meaning.”

This is a copy of a e-mail sent to me from the new Leader of the the Republican Party in MN
Thanks Tony

Let me be very clear: I disagree with the Minnesota Supreme Court’s decision in Sen. Coleman’s appeal. The court’s ruling wrongly disenfranchises thousands of Minnesotans. There were unacceptable disparities in the way Minnesotans’ ballots were treated based upon the counties in which they reside. Democrats seized on these disparities and hunted for ballots so they could win the election through the courts. This is completely unacceptable and we will never let it happen again.
While we respect Senator Coleman’s decision to not appeal, we believe that this ruling wrongly leaves thousands of Minnesotans silenced. In 2010, we must defeat the ACORN Secretary of State Mark Ritchie to ensure our state’s elections are conducted in a fair and non-partisan manner.
Senator Al Franken* will always have an asterisk next to his name. However, we must resolve to fight the Democrats as they chip away at our liberties with higher taxes, unsustainable spending, and 21st century socialism.
Finally, I would like you to join me in thanking Norm Coleman. For 30 years he worked tirelessly as a public servant for the betterment of our state and of our country. Norm’s dedication and leadership for our state makes us proud to be Minnesotans.
I am attaching the statements I released to the press today:
“Today’s ruling wrongly disenfranchised thousands of Minnesotans who deserve to have their votes counted. Alongside Senator Coleman, the Republican Party of Minnesota has fought to make sure every vote counts and all voters are treated fairly and uniformly. As we move forward, our deeply flawed election system must be dramatically improved to ensure our state’s elections are fair, accurate and reliable.”
“Senator Coleman’s gracious remarks following a long and hard fought campaign are to be commended. For over three decades, Norm Coleman has served Minnesotans with high distinction and honor as a prosecutor, mayor and United States senator. Norm’s commitment to Minnesota will never waver. He is a good man who has fought the good fight.”
Sincerely,
Tony Sutton
Chairman-Elect, Republican Party of Minnesota

State Senator Larry Pogemiller, Senator Dahle and others criticizing
Governor Pawlenty for his plan to shift K-12 funding in an effort to
balance the state budgeta pure hypocrites. In recent public comments on
the policy, Sen. Pogemiller said the DFL State Senate majority is
“against” the K-12 shift. This is very similar to the tone in Senator
Dahle’s press release that Mr. Budig shared with us.
In reality, Senate DFLers, under Sen. Pogemiller’s leadership, proposed
the shift as part of their budget balancing bill, as did the DFL
controlled House of Representatives. Sen. Pogemiller and Sen. Dahle even
cast a “yes” vote supporting it.
The practice of delaying payments to school districts has been used by the
legislature to help balance the state’s budget numerous times before,
dating back to 1980.
Not only are Sen. Pogemiller and Sen. Dahle hypocrites, they haven’t
mentioned that the State Senate itself voted in favor of the K-12 shift.
The education shift was in conference committee report for HF2323 that was
passed by the Senate on a vote of 35-1 with Dahle and Pogemiller voting
for passage.
http://www.senate.leg.state.mn.us/journals/2009-2010/20090518058.pdf#Page712
Both also voted for passage of HF885 which included education shift:
http://www.senate.leg.state.mn.us/journals/2009-2010/20090508050.pdf#Page230
When the DFL Conference Committees first met here was the scenario:
Governor: Delayed $1.3 billion in state aid to school districts.
House: Delayed $1.8 billion in state aid to school districts – a larger
payment shift than the Governor.
Senate: Did not delay school payments.
On May 16th the DFL Leaders of the House and Senate offered their last
deal to the Governor and of course what did it entail?
http://www.commissions.leg.state.mn.us/lcpfp/05162009legislature.pdf $1.8
billion from the K-12 education shift.
But all you see is the criticism from those like Dahle and Pogemiller when
in fact the Governor was attempting to compromise with them all along the
way here is an example:
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/features/2009/05/11_letter_legislators.pdf
Don’t you just love that they criticize the Governor for doing exactly
what they voted to do as Legislators? The true definition of a hypocrite!

As I look back at past Independence Days that Ihave observed over my lifetime, I cannot help but wonder if this may be the last one that we as Americans will observe in the spirit of our Founders.
We have witnessed a steady and blatant disregard of our Rule Of law, and Constitution over the past few months by our Congress, and our Executive Branch. We have seen them ignore the will of the people and our American values through Executive Orders, and by the passing of bills that were voted on without even knowing what was contained in the draft. All of this has moved us closer to socialism, and more government control of our lives. Our Congress also may be unknowingly handing over it’s power, and usefulness to the Executive branch, and rendering itself a non entity. We see an Executive branch that seems to have more respect for other nations and religions then our own, and the Christian principles upon which America was founded. We do not need to apologize for standing up for liberty, and freedom.
Independence Day is a time to reflect back on the founding of this great nation. We reflect back on a nation that was born because the people that came here wanted to break the bands of tyranny, and live in a country free of intrusive governmental restraints.
This Independence Day we will see celebrations, but we will also witness massive rallies, and demonstrations calling for a return to our founding principles, and a respect for the Rule Of Law. We will see concerned citizens standing up for the future of our children, and grandchildren so that they will not become slaves to the government through debt. All of this is part of our Constitutional right to free speech, and right of assembly, rights which may be stripped away if we don’t stand up to preserve them now and into the future.
We will see Americans gather to show support for our Troops, and Veterans that serve this country to see to it that our way of life and freedoms are protected.
This July 4Th should be a call to action for all Americans to stand up for our heritage, and way of life. America is still the land of the free, and the home of the brave, but we will loose our freedom if we don’t stand together to see to it that they are preserved.
Those that would like to see America destroyed must be stopped. We must stand together to let our voices ring out. We must stand up and say that we don’t want the “Change” that the left is attempting to bring to America through massive bailouts, Cap and Trade, Card Check, Amnesty for illegals; or any other bill that is unconstitutional.
America, reflect back on the pass, but also think about the future of our great nation. Stand up for our children. Display your flags, and attend patriotic events this weekend.
Most of all pray for America and our leaders. We can save this great land, and return to our founding principles. God Bless America.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it.” -Mark Twain
So in a 100+ days we have seen more sweeping changes in our government than we have in the last 25 years, but is it the change we want? We have witnessed a full scale assault on our system of government, our economy, our security, states’ rights and our national sovereignty. Government spending, intervention, regulation and oversight is at an all-time high. Our Constitution is being shredded by an arrogant approach to governing that starts with the premise that the government knows what is best for us. Ironically, the Constitution was written and designed to protect our rights from just this type of governing.
Here is a quick list of some of the adventures the new administration and the current Congress have taken us on so far, in no particular order:
The Stimulus Bill - (N.Y. Times) Feb 14th “The president made clear when we started this process that this was about jobs,” Mr. Boehner (R) Ohio, said after the vote. “Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. And what it’s turned into is nothing more than spending, spending and more spending.” “Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before.” - White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel This was undoubtedly part of the logic behind the $787 million stimulus bill that nobody in Congress read. The bill was a democrat’s wish list which contained such stimulating items as $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn’t turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There’s even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons. Plus $252 billion is for income-transfer payments — that is, not investments that arguably help everyone, but cash or benefits to individuals for doing nothing at all. There’s $81 billion for Medicaid, $36 billion for expanded unemployment benefits, $20 billion for food stamps, and $83 billion for the earned income credit for people who don’t pay income tax. While some of that may be justified to help poorer Americans ride out the recession, they aren’t job creators.* source* -The Wall Street Journal The only jobs we are creating are government jobs - 66,000 census workers and 800 IRS agents. (Category - Excessive Spending)
Closing Guantanamo Bay - On Jan. 22nd, President Obama signed an executive order to close Guantanamo Bay. On May 18th, the democrats denied President Obama’s request for $80 million to close Guantanamo Bay. “When they (the administration) have a plan, they’re welcome to come back and talk to us about it.” - House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-WI) Apparently, lawmakers are concerned about what would happen to the roughly 245 current Guantanamo inmates, many considered hardened terrorists particularly which congressional districts they would land in. Rep. Frank Wolf (R., Va.) said the Justice Dept. was prepared earlier this month to release Guantanamo prisoners into his district — which the administration denied — and he called for a moratorium on such releases. “We need a plan. We need to know where these men will go,” Mr. Wolf said. (Category - National Security)
Release of the “torture memos” - April16th, (CBS News) -”Withholding these memos would only serve to deny facts that have been in the public domain for some time,” Mr. Obama said. “This could contribute to an inaccurate accounting of the past, and fuel erroneous and inflammatory assumptions about actions taken by the United States.” (WSJ) - “The four memos from 2002 and 2005 revealed new details about the interrogations, including a detailed description of water boarding, or simulated drowning, and descriptions of lesser-known methods such as “walling” and using insects. Sections involving names of some detainees and the way techniques were applied to particular prisoners were blacked out.” This should really improve our national security and relations with Muslims everywhere. The administration’s arrogance was on full display as this was done over the objections of their own CIA Chief Leon Panetta and others in the U.S. intelligence community. (Category - National Security)
Greenhouse gases are harmful - April 17th, The Obama Administration used its’ regulatory power to circumvent the need to try and force unpopular legislation. Instead, the EPA announced that greenhouse gas emissions were a threat to public health because they contribute to climate change. This sets the stage for the EPA to regulate emissions from a wide spectrum of sources including vehicles, power plants, manufacturing facilities, oil refineries and airplanes. The executive branch trumped the legislative process to further their agenda by cutting off a congressional debate that they couldn’t win. We still live in America - don’t we? (Category - Excessive Government Regulation)
The apology tour - President Obama has made a habit of using his speeches abroad to apologize for American behavior in the past. Here are some highlights.
Jan. 26: “All too often the United States starts by dictating … and we don’t always know all the factors that are involved. So let’s listen. And I think if we do that, then there’s a possibility at least of achieving some breakthroughs. … My job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect.”
– President Obama, in an interview with Al Arabiya
April 1: “If you look at the sources of this crisis, the United States certainly has some accounting to do with respect to a regulatory system that was inadequate.”
– President Obama, at a press conference ahead of the G20 in London
April 2: “It is true, as my Italian friend has said, that the (economic) crisis began in the U.S. I take responsibility, even if I wasn’t even president at the time.”
– President Obama, at the G20 in London, as reported by Germany’s Der Spiegel
April 6: “I know there have been difficulties these last few years. I know that the trust that binds us has been strained, and I know that strain is shared in many places where the Muslim faith is practiced. Let me say this as clearly as I can: the United States is not at war with Islam.”
– President Obama, in Ankara, Turkey
April 16: “Too often, the United States has not pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors. We have been too easily distracted by other priorities and have failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas. My administration is committed to renewing and sustaining a broader partnership between the United States and the hemisphere on behalf of our common prosperity and our common security.”
– President Obama, in an op-ed that appeared in U.S. and Latin American newspapers prior to the Summit of the Americas
April 18: “We have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms. But I pledge to you that we seek an equal partnership. There is no senior partner and junior partner in our relations.”
– President Obama, at the Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad
Is this a new form of “statesmanship”? Are these the positions that we want our leader expressing to the rest of the world. We are not a perfect nation but we are a good and generous one. We give the rest of the world billions of dollars a year in foreign aid and relief efforts trying to make it a better place. Let’s be honest - the hardworking people of our country are not the ones who are benefiting from the political hi-jinx that our politicians pull around the world - they and their cronies do! The only thing, “We, the people” need to apologize for is electing some of these idiots, in the first place.
Remember the words of George Washington - “’Tis folly in one Nation to look for disinterested favors from another; that it must pay with a portion of its Independence for whatever it may accept under that character; that by such acceptance, it may place itself in the condition of having given equivalents for nominal favors and yet of being reproached with ingratitude for not giving more. There can be no greater error than to expect, or calculate upon real favors from Nation to Nation. ‘Tis an illusion which experience must cure, which a just pride ought to discard. …….. ‘Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent Alliances, with any portion of the foreign world.” (Categories - National Security/Foreign Policy/National Sovereignty)
The Chrysler Bailout/Bankruptcy - (N.Y.Times) WASHINGTON — President Obama forced Chrysler into federal bankruptcy protection on Thursday so it could pursue a lifesaving alliance with the Italian automaker Fiat, in yet another extraordinary intervention into private industry by the federal government. - This intervention resulted in the UAW getting a 55% ownership share in Chrysler for about $4.2 billion while the taxpayers got about 8% for our $12 billion. Really! This is the kind of good deals you get when the government gets involved with business. So far the buy out has only saved union and management jobs . On the other side of the equation, the 789 dealerships closing will result in the loss of another 30,000 jobs in communities of every size nationwide. Many of these are family run businesses left holding inventories of cars and parts. Watch out GM is next. (Categories - Excessive Spending/Government Intervention)
The G20 Rollover - (Telegraph.co.uk) A single clause in Point 19 of the communiqué issued by the G20 leaders amounts to revolution in the global financial order. “We have agreed to support a general SDR allocation which will inject $250bn (£170bn) into the world economy and increase global liquidity,” it said. SDRs are Special Drawing Rights, a synthetic paper currency issued by the International Monetary Fund that has lain dormant for half a century. In effect, the G20 leaders have activated the IMF’s power to create money and begin global “quantitative easing”. With this agreement President Obama helped lay the groundwork for global financial regulation. The creation of a Financial Stability Board is the first step towards an international financial regulator. These moves are designed to strengthen the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and possibly create a new world currency. In the future, the FSB could/will technically be able to impose global financial regulations that the SEC would be obliged to follow. Welcome to the New World Order, goodbye sovereignty! (Categories - Economic Security/Foreign Policy/National Sovereignty)
Executive Pay Limits - May 15th , (N.Y. Times), Obama Administration officials are contemplating a major overhaul of the compensation practices in the financial services industry, moving beyond banks to include more loosely regulated hedge funds and private equity firms. Federal policymakers have been discussing ways to ensure that pay is more closely linked to performance. Representative Barney Frank, the Massachusetts Democrat who heads the Financial Services Committee, said he believed giving the government new authority to take over troubled companies could be adopted by the House. “This would give the government the same powers that you would get as if the company were in bankruptcy,” Mr. Frank said in an interview shortly after meeting with Mr. Geithner on the plan. But Mr. Frank and other lawmakers said other elements of the plan could take more time, like expanding the authority of the Federal Reserve to become a systemic regulator. Among the ideas under consideration are incorporating compensation as a “safety and soundness” concern on official bank examinations as well as expanding the existing regulatory powers of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Federal Reserve to obtain more information. This sounds an awful lot like socialism, today banks, financial services companies and hedge funds - tomorrow? Is your job next? And ….. Where in the constitution does the government get this authority? I guess if you control salaries the redistribution of wealth model is easier to manage. (Categories - Government Intervention)
The administration will tell you that all of this is being done to protect the country and for the general welfare of its’ citizens. To which our founding fathers would have responded as follows:
“With respect to the two words ‘general welfare,’ I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.” — James Madison
This only a handful of the examples that illustrate that the federal government is out of control. There are many more spanning a broad spectrum of categories from nationalizing private businesses, retroactive taxes, state’s rights, financial regulation and continued bailouts to plans to “reform” health care , gun laws, cap & trade and card check. It is the time to this stop madness.
We are careening down the road toward socialism at an incredible rate of speed. Politics long ago replaced leadership, statesmanship and governing. The elected officials and bureaucrats in Washington have thrown our constitution and all the values used to create it out the window. The federal government has pushed citizens and the states aside, in an effort to take total control. We can not let this happen. You need to write or contact every elected official in your voting district. Tell them to cease and desist or they will lose their jobs. The time to act is now. Let’s take back America!

(NPR, All Things Considered) May 4, 2009 · President Obama sent a broadside Monday across the bow of those companies that now avoid taxes by keeping much of their business on the books of offshore subsidiaries. The practice is perfectly legal right now (1), but the White House wants that to change.
President Obama vowed Monday to “detect and pursue” American tax evaders(2) and go after their offshore tax shelters.
In announcing a series of steps aimed at overhauling the U.S. tax code, Obama complained that existing law makes it possible to “pay lower taxes if you create a job in Bangalore, India, than if you create one in Buffalo, N.Y.”
The president said he wants to prevent U.S. companies from deferring tax payments by keeping profits in foreign countries rather than recording them at home, and called for more transparency in bank accounts that Americans hold in notorious tax havens like the Cayman Islands.
“If financial institutions won’t cooperate with us, we will assume that they are sheltering money in tax havens and act accordingly,” Obama said. (3)
The president, who hammered on this issue during his long campaign for the White House, said at a White House event that his plan would generate $210 billion in new taxes over 10 years and “make it easier” for companies to create jobs at home. (4) Over a decade, $210 billion would make a modest dent in a federal deficit expected to swell to $1.2 trillion in 2010.
He said the government also is hiring nearly 800 new IRS agents to enforce the U.S. tax code. (5)
Under the plan, companies would not be able to write off domestic expenses for generating profits abroad. The goal is to reduce the incentive for U.S. companies to base all or part of their operations in other countries. (6a)
“The plan will reduce the ability of U.S. companies to compete in foreign markets,” said John Castellani, who heads the Business Roundtable, which represents some of the largest U.S. companies. “We believe it will not only reduce jobs, but it will also cripple economic growth here in the United States. It just couldn’t have come at a worse time.”
Gary Hufbauer, a senior fellow with the Peterson Institute for International Economics, says eliminating the deduction on U.S. expenses associated with foreign profits would encourage multinationals to move more of their essential functions abroad. (6b)
“Those are the good jobs at good pay that America should want,” Hufbauer said. “I mean, do we want these headquarters’ expenses to be incurred in Singapore or London?” (6c)
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said the proposals would end “indefensible tax breaks and loopholes which allow some companies and some well-off citizens to evade the rules that the rest of America lives by.” (7) Geithner called them “common-sense changes designed to restore balance to our tax code.”
Once again I ask you - can you believe what you just read? I highlighted in the copy some key statements woven into this story. Here are my observations based on these key statements in the same order they appear in the story.
- First and very important to note, while the administration may not like it, the practice they are complaining about is not illegal.
- Even though it is not illegal, the President referred to the users of this “legal loophole” as “American tax evaders.” He also vowed to “detect and pursue” them. What does that mean? If it’s not illegal, does this mean the administration plans to bully, harass and attempt to publicly embarrass these companies? At a minimum it means that Obama’s full scale assault on capitalism and American business will continue. The administration seems to be intent on making the business community the bad guys for everything in the eyes of the public. Of course, the savior for the average citizen in “Obama World” is more government oversight and control.
- Now for the scariest statement in the article “If financial institutions won’t cooperate with us, we will assume that they are sheltering money in tax havens and act accordingly,” - what does he mean by this? In America, there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. We don’t assume guilt and persecute. Plus let’s not forget that what these companies are doing is not illegal under the current rules. The financial institutes the President is referring to are in foreign countries so what is their incentive to cooperate with his administration? So without the cooperation of these foreign institutes the result will mostly likely be a smear campaign against these “evil corporations”.
- The President goes on to assert that by closing these loopholes it will “make it easier” for companies to create jobs at home. What?? So paying higher taxes will stimulate job growth? What school of economics teaches this business theory? This quite possibly the dumbest thing I have heard from the administration so far.
- We are also finally getting to see how the president is going to stimulate job growth. He is going to make government bigger by adding IRS agents to persecute real businesses. This will result in increased job loss in the private sector. Is it possible to have a prosperous economy with a giant government workforce? Who are you going to tax in that model? The last time this model was tried we referred to it as the Soviet Union and as I recall their economy collapsed.
- (a, b,& c) In yet another stroke of business genius, the administration asserts that by eliminating certain write off and deductions it will reduce the incentive for U.S. companies to base all or part of their operations in other countries. However, conventional wisdom would indicate just the opposite is likely to occur. Rather than moving things back to the U.S., it is more likely that large multinational companies would move their headquarters offshore taking high paying executive and management positions with them.
- Of course this brilliant strategy would not have been be complete without a comment on this “common sense” approach to fair taxes by everyone’s favorite “tax evader” Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner who is certainly an expert on “indefensible tax breaks and loopholes which allow ……some well-off citizens to evade the rules that the rest of America lives by.” Apparently it is O.K. to be a “tax cheat” as long as you have a cabinet post but “make no mistake”, this won’t be tolerated in the private sector. The arrogance of this administration is at times overwhelming considering how little any of them seem to understand about how business works in the real world. Maybe they should all go get a job at a company that produces a product. Then they could learn what it takes to satisfy customers, to stay competitive, and make a profit so that the business can succeed.
So what is the solution - instead of creating more ways to tax businesses which drives jobs to other countries, let’s lower business taxes to stimulate job growth domestically. The U.S. has some of the highest business taxes in the industrialized world which is why jobs are leaving the country. The U.S. has been steadily climbing the world rankings for business taxes. We are currently ranked #1. Since 2000, Japan, Germany, France, Canada, Greece, Italy and Mexico have all lowered their business taxes to stimulate business growth, some by more than 10%. Since 1993 U.S. business tax rates have remained virtually flat. Currently, the effective federal business tax rate is 39.3% in the U.S. which is down from 39.4% in 2000. Japan is at 30% down from 40.9% in 2000. However most of Europe has rates between 25 and 35%. Of course, China arguably the world’s largest competitor is communist and they succeed in the global economy on the back of their people and the ability to play by their own rules.
This administration has capitalism and business squarely in it’s sights. America became the great nation it is by becoming the preeminent economic force in the world. Government jobs do not improve the economy or the GNP. The only way that America can remain a powerful and respected nation that can protect its’ people, its’ sovereignty and its’ way of life is to remain an economic powerhouse. The only way this happens is, we change our tax laws to make America more competitive, instead of forcing us to compete with one hand tied behind our back.
I have made the tough decisions, always with an eye toward the bottom line. Perhaps it’s time America was run like a business. - Donald Trump
The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, the public debt should be reduced and the arrogance of public officials should be controlled. - Ross Perot
